Groceries, Alcohol, Ice & Supplies for Your Boat Charter

Arrive organised, then relax

A little provisioning before your charter makes the whole day easier.

Church Point Charter operates from Princes Street Marina, 16 Princes Street, Newport NSW 2106, so the easiest option is usually to organise groceries, drinks, ice and any last-minute supplies before you arrive at the marina.

That way, once your briefing is complete, you can settle into the boat and enjoy the water instead of worrying about what you forgot.

For most guests, the best approach is simple:

  • order ahead

  • collect on the way to Newport

  • bring more ice than you think you need

  • keep the first day easy

  • avoid relying on last-minute deliveries once you are underway

The easiest option: click and collect

For most charters, click and collect is the simplest way to organise supplies.

You can place your supermarket or bottle shop order ahead of time, choose a collection window that suits your departure, and pick it up on your way to Newport.

Nearby supermarket options include:

Coles Local Newport

Website:Coles Local Newport
Best for: A convenient Newport grocery stop close to the marina.

Woolworths Mona Vale

Ice: bring more than you think

Ice is one of the easiest things to underestimate.

Boat fridges are useful, but they are not the same as household fridges. If you are bringing drinks, seafood, BBQ food or supplies for an overnight charter, bring enough ice to keep everything cold and comfortable.

A good approach is:

  • pre-chill drinks before arrival

  • pack food cold

  • bring ice for drinks

  • bring extra ice for backup cooling

  • avoid opening the fridge more than necessary

For longer charters, plan your ice and cold storage carefully before leaving Newport.

Resupply during longer charters

For longer charters, you may be able to organise extra supplies along the way, but it is best not to rely on this for essentials.

Mobile reception, delivery coverage and shore access can vary around Pittwater, Cowan Creek and the Hawkesbury. Some areas feel wonderfully remote, but that also means they are not ideal for last-minute groceries.

Alcohol and skipper responsibility

Guests are welcome to bring food and drinks aboard, but the nominated skipper must remain fit to operate the vessel.

The skipper must stay under the legal alcohol limit while the vessel is underway and remains responsible for the safety of everyone onboard.

Alcohol deliveries also come with their own requirements. Delivery services may require valid ID, and alcohol may be refused if the recipient cannot meet legal delivery requirements.

A simple approach works best: organise drinks early, keep the skipper responsible, and save the relaxed drinks for when the boat is safely secured to an authorised mooring.

Quick provisioning checklist

Before arriving at Princes Street Marina, check that you have:

  • groceries

  • drinks

  • ice

  • drinking water

  • snacks

  • breakfast supplies

  • sunscreen

  • hats and swimmers

  • warm layers

  • phone charging cables

  • linen and towels if not arranged

  • medication and personal items

  • rubbish bags

  • children’s fitted lifejackets

  • any restaurant, water taxi or transfer details

A little planning goes a long way

The best charters usually start before anyone steps onboard.

Collect your supplies, bring plenty of ice, keep the plan simple and arrive ready to relax. Once the boat is loaded and the briefing is complete, the rest of the day can unfold the way it should — slowly, comfortably and on the water.
