Owner Services

Owning a boat is about freedom, time on the water and enjoying a unique lifestyle.

For many owners, placing a vessel into charter is a practical way to balance enjoyment with professional management.

Church Point Charter works with a small number of boat owners to operate vessels within our self-drive charter fleet. Our approach is simple: we manage the day-to-day operation and compliance, while owners retain access, flexibility and the enjoyment of ownership.

Why place your boat into charter?

Professionally maintained vessels
Charter boats are maintained to AMSA commercial survey standards, with regular servicing, inspections and documentation. Vessels in survey are typically maintained to a higher standard than privately used boats and are proven to hold their resale value well.

Access a larger or more comfortable boat
Operating a vessel as part of a charter business can make it possible to own a larger, better-equipped or more comfortable boat than might otherwise be practical for private use alone.

Generate income
While boating is rarely cost-neutral, chartering your vessel can help offset ownership costs and, in some cases, generate a return. Income varies depending on vessel type, availability and season, and we provide realistic guidance based on long-term experience.

Potential tax advantages
Subject to your individual circumstances and ATO requirements, there may be tax advantages available, including depreciation. We always recommend owners seek independent accounting advice to confirm suitability.

Flexible owner use
Owner use is an important part of our model. We work with owners to ensure personal time on the boat is accommodated alongside charter availability, without unnecessary complexity.

Boats benefit from regular use
Boats are designed to be used. Regular operation, combined with structured service and maintenance programs, helps keep systems running as intended and issues identified early. Our maintenance standards are second to none.

A sheltered, well-supported base
All vessels operate from a very sheltered marina on Pittwater, offering calm conditions, easy access to the waterway and a practical base for both owners and charter guests.

Vessel management made simple
Placing your boat into charter doesn’t mean handing over control — it means sharing responsibility with an experienced operator.

What we manage

  • Charter bookings and guest communication

  • Compliance with AMSA survey requirements

  • Cleaning and presentation between charters

  • Servicing and maintenance coordination

  • On-water support during charter periods

  • Owners receive clear communication and transparency around vessel use, maintenance and scheduling.

Moorings & operational support

Church Point Charter owns and manages six commercial moorings on Pittwater, suitable for vessels up to 35 feet.

These moorings are:

  • Located in sheltered Pittwater

  • Available for short-term or long-term rental

  • Suitable for both charter operation and private owner use

Is your boat suitable?

To place a vessel into charter with Church Point Charter, it must be able to operate in AMSA Survey 4E.

Many popular cruising vessels already meet, or can be brought into, Survey 4E with the right preparation.

Survey suitability depends on vessel design, condition and intended use. We’re happy to offer practical guidance based on experience.
