ON THE PITTWATER & HAWKESBURY RIVERS

Church Point Charter started with 2 boats in 1988 and had built to a fleet of 22 vessels by 2002. Initially we were located in a small office on the ferry wharf at Church Point but in line with the expansion of the business, moved to Sirsi Marina at Newport in 1991.

The Marina at Newport is easily accessible with in-house parking.  The boats are berthed alongside so just park the car and walk on board your boat.  A detailed briefing is always given to make sure the clients feel confident with the boat before departure.

The cruisers range from 30’-35’, the most popular being the brand new luxury RESORT 35 XL cruiser.  These cruisers offer superior five star accommodation sleeping 10 people, and are suitable for families or a group of friends.  The boats feature TV/Video, CD player, BBQ, electric anchor winch, microwave, 4 burner stove, grill and oven, fridge/freezer, and 2 bathrooms with toilet and shower.  The extended flybridge has speakers and lighting for entertaining and/or relaxing, and also covers the lower cockpit giving all weather protection when combined with the drop down clears.  There are tow steering station, one on the flybridge and one inside the galley area.  The new chined hull ensures maximum stability, and the walk through transom means these boats are easy to board regardless of age and mobility.

The NEW SEAWIND 1000 catamarans are unique because of their substantial deck space.  These boats have 5 double beds (one king size), and despite their size are extremely manoeuvrable under power with the option of sailing.  Very popular for corporate functions and family gatherings.   These catamarans have 1 bathroom with shower and toilet, 2 burner stove, grill and oven, BBQ, wheel steering, power anchor winch, CD player, fridge/freezer, cockpit shower and self furling headsail.  There are also two ladders to assist people to get back on board easily after a swim.

Church Point Charter has a range of new yachts which includes the HUNTER 34’, a DUFOUR 38’, and a BAVARIA 38’.  The Hunter is a new addition to the fleet, which has proved very popular because of its spaciousness.  It sleeps 7 in 3 private lock-up cabins.  The Dufour 38’ is an innovative and stylish French yacht, the Bavaria 38’ is a quality boat with mahogany interior and the Jeanneau 40’ is an elegant and classy French yacht.  All these boats sleep 8 in 3 private double cabins with the dinette folding down for the fourth double.  The yachts all have 2 bathrooms with toilet and shower, fridge, 2 burner stove, grill, oven, BBQ, CD player, self furling headsail, power anchor winch and wheel steering.  (The Jeanneau has two steering wheels).  These yachts provide luxury five star accommodation and can be confidently sailed by the sailing enthusiast regardless of ability.

The Pittwater and Hawkesbury River area is popular for day, weekend or weeklong charters on boats.  It is a 40 minute drive from Sydney city, and is a naturally beautiful area surrounded by the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.  The park is noted for its historical Aboriginal artworks and carvings which can been seen in some of the caves in the area.  There are plenty of walks in the National Park particularly Berowra, Bobbin Head, The Basin and West Head.  The fishing is plentiful and there are many colourful birds in the area.  There are many sandy beaches such as Towlers Bay in Pittwater, creeks and mangroves and a stunning waterfall at Refuge Bay in the Hawkesbury River.

It is important to note that Charter boats are not allowed to tie up to a wharf, but you can pick up a mooring and use the dinghy which comes with the boat.  The yachts are allowed to go from Pittwater to the Railway Bridge at Brooklyn (the masts won’t fit underneath).  The cruisers can go from Pittwater around West Head into the Hawkesbury and cruise  Cowan Creek or go as far as Wiseman’s Ferry.  (Houseboats are not allowed around West Head and are therefore restricted to the Hawkesbury River).

The boats all have fully equipped kitchens and come with dinghy and oars.  Apart from the basic charter fee the only extras are fuel and a refundable bond, and although some sailing experience is required on the yachts, no experience OR LICENCE  is required for the cruisers.
